Wii/DS Router Announced
Nintendo’s Japanese website has announced the creation of an official Wi-Fi Router for Wii and DS, meaning those who haven’t already got their console and/or handheld online will finally be able to download Virtual Console games, play Mario Kart against other people from around the world and, er, vote on things in the Everybody Votes Channel. Yay.
The router features the same sleek white design as the Wii and could be a sign that Nintendo really are taking online seriously. Is this announcement in preparation for Animal Crossing: City Folk’s arrival, or the prelude to some big online push Nintendo will announce around the Tokyo Games Show and it’s inevitable Fall Media Summit?
The Router will be available in Japan on September 18 for 5,800 yen (around $53 according to Kotaku), but Spong reports there are no plans to make it available in Europe. Not quite sure why….
